VIDEO: “What The Hell Is Wrong With Nick Arcade?”

While I generally keep the content on my website smart, informative and inspiring, there is something about the following video that resonates so strongly with my childhood. Nick Arcade was one of the many shows on Nickelodeon when I was a child. Unlike shows such as Double Dare and Wild and Crazy Kids, Nick Arcade relied on contestants’ ability to play video games and know pop culture references.

Even as an nonathletic child, I always felt I was in better shape than the contestants on Double Dare. They stumbled around the stage with no concept of spatial awareness. They moved so slowly and without any grace. Even then I knew, if I was on one of those shows, I could outdo them. But, a show like Nick Arcade, I was MADE for. I always knew I was smarter, faster and more of a geek than any of those kids. If I felt confident outmaneuvering kids on a sports show, I would clean the floor with these kids on Nick Arcade!

That being said, this video exemplifies every reason why I felt that way. Please enjoy, share and relive your childhood.

Wow. That final part with the girl trying to get down the steps backwards is hilarious. Nick Arcade — that host wasn't very good in retrospect, either.
